Perhaps you’re wondering how to get a job in a warehouse without the funds to train? Maybe you’re seeking a free forklift licence? We can help you.

If you’re unemployed and struggling to find the funds to train yourself, you could be eligible for free funded and partially funded training pathways for careers in Warehouse and Storage, including free forklift training for unemployed citizens in the South Shields, Sunderland and Tyne and Wear areas.

Warehousing and Storage

NVQ Level 1

(NCFE Accredited)

The funded Warehousing and Storage programmes we offer are ideally suited to people who wish to pursue a career within these sectors. We have a purpose-built warehouse where practical sessions take place. The units covered during the warehouse NVQ are as follows:

Unit 01 – Health And Safety In The Workplace
Unit 05 – Moving Or Handling Goods Manually In Logistic Facilities
Unit 06 – Pick Goods In A Logistic Environment
Unit 08 – Operate Equipment To Perform Work Requirements In A Logistics Environment
Unit 09 - Use Equipment To Move Goods In Logistics Facilities
Unit 12 - Assemble Orders For Dispatch In A Logistics Environment

 

 

Counterbalance Forklift Truck

As part of the warehousing and storage programme you will undertake a Counterbalance Forklift Truck Course. This is a nationally recognised qualification which meets the appropriate criteria as specified by ITSSAR and HSE Approved Code of Practice (L117).

As an ITSSAR accredited training provider we register all our trainees who undertake accredited training onto the Trainer Operator Passport Scheme (TOPS). This is an ITSSAR mandatory database for all Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) and Workplace Transport Operators.

Each operative will be issued with a unique (TOPS) ID number which will remain with them for life. This number will be used for all additional categories of machines

 

Career Coach

This in an online platform and is designed to broaden knowledge on effective job search activities and explore options in a chosen sector, exploring different resources and networking options. It helps you assess your own transferable skills and learn how to embed these within your job search activities and documents.

You can look through the active online jobs and apply for them, and even create or enhance your current CV using the CV builder tab. There is also a tab for looking at courses to enhance your knowledge and skills in your chosen area.

 

Emergency First Aid at Work

This is a 1-day course.

This course provides basic lifesaving first aid skills and knowledge of workplace Health and Safety regulations, covering:

• Adult resuscitation (CPR)*
• Burns and scalds
• Choking adults
• Communication and casualty care
• Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory based)
• Defibrillator pad placement (theory based)
• Minor and severe bleeding
• Role of the first aider (including knowledge of Health and Safety regulations)
• Seizures • Shock
• Unresponsive adults

Fire Marshall

Aim
The aim of this course is to raise awareness of the risks posed by fire and the arrangements required in all workplaces to eliminate or reduce the risks that fire presents. It also covers the key roles and responsibilities of the Fire Warden/ Fire Marshal.
